How to Make Chicken Curry at Home
Ingredients:
- 1 pound boneless chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons curry powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (14 ounces) coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add the chicken to the pan and cook until lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add curry powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the pan and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Pour the canned tomatoes and coconut milk into the pan and stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot with rice or naan bread and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Enjoy!
