How to Make Chicken Curry at Home

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless chicken, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for spice)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 ounces) coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan and sauté until the onion is soft and translucent.
  3. Add the chicken to the pan and cook until lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add curry powder, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the pan and stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Pour the canned tomatoes and coconut milk into the pan and stir to combine.
  6. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve hot with rice or naan bread and garnish with fresh cilantro if desired. Enjoy!
